How to Restore a Google Docs File Using Version History
Summary: If you need to recover a previous version of a document, Google Docs makes it easy with its built-in version history feature. Follow the steps below to restore an earlier version of your file.
Step 1: Open Google Docs
Go to docs.google.com and open the document you want to restore.
Step 2: Access Version History
In the top-left corner, click File.
From the dropdown menu, hover over Version history, then select See version history.
Step 3: Browse Previous Versions
A panel will appear on the right side of the screen showing different versions of your document, organized by date and time.
Click through the versions to preview changes and find the one you want to restore.
Step 4: Restore the Desired Version
Once you’ve selected the correct version, click Restore this version in the top-left corner of the screen.
Step 5: Done
Your document will now be restored to the selected version.
That’s it—your previous version is now active and ready to use.
